The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Strategic Communication, Allen Sowore, has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting his appointment as Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
In a statement released on Thursday, Sowore expressed appreciation for the show of goodwill from individuals behind the viral post but maintained that such appointment matters rest solely with the Governor.
“My attention has been drawn to a social media post currently in circulation, suggesting my appointment as Chairman of OSOPADEC. While I sincerely appreciate the goodwill and intentions of those behind the circulation, I wish to make it abundantly clear that I am a firm believer that appointments are solely at the discretion of the Governor,” the statement read.
He also clarified that he had not commissioned or authorized any person or group to canvass support for him regarding the position.
“I categorically state that I have neither requested nor authorized any individual or group to solicit support on my behalf for such an appointment,” he added.
The statement is seen as a move to quell speculation and uphold the integrity of the appointment process in Ondo State.
