Comrade (Mrs.) Yinka Ogunleye has emerged as the Chairperson of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) Alumni Association, Akure Chapter, following a free, fair, and peaceful election.
The election, which took place at the Engineer Adedeji Philip Engineering House in Akure, Ondo State capital, saw all candidates emerge unopposed after major contenders stepped down hours before voting commenced.
The newly elected executives are:Owolabi Bunmi Johnson – Treasurer,Princess Kemi-Bello – Welfare Director, Prince Odunayo Ogunlade – Secretary, John Adeyemi-Ologun – Public Relations Officer (PRO),Engr. Komolafe Bankole – Vice Chairman,Agbadola Monisola – Assistant General Secretary.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Ogunleye expressed deep appreciation to the alumni members for the confidence reposed in her leadership. She also commended the outgoing executive for their dedication and service to the Akure Chapter.
She pledged to collaborate with fellow officers in delivering purposeful leadership, noting that her vision is to build a stronger, more vibrant, and better-connected alumni community.
“I will foster a sense of belonging, promote networking opportunities, and support initiatives that will enhance both our Alma Mater and the Alumni body,” Ogunleye stated.
Outgoing Chairman, Engineer Beremoye Adeoye, congratulated Ogunleye and the new executives on their emergence.
He praised Ogunleye’s longstanding commitment to the chapter, describing her elevation as “long overdue.”
“Your contributions to the growth of RUGIPO Alumni Akure Chapter cannot be overemphasized.
“You have been chosen to serve and lead with humility, integrity, and vision. I advise you to build on the foundation of peace we have laid. I have strong belief in your leadership,” he added.
