This follows the formal removal of the former Iralepo, Mr. Gbenga Ojo, in line with a judgment of the Court of Appeal in Suit No: CA/AK/69/2022. In a letter personally signed by the Deji, he stated:
“Sequel to the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Suit No: CA/AK/69/2022, I hereby write to notify you of your removal as Chief Iralepo of Isikan Quarters in Akure with immediate effect.”
The letter further directed Mr. Gbenga Ojo to vacate the Iralepo’s traditional palace immediately to allow the new Quarter Chief to assume office. Additionally, he has been instructed to hand over all palace properties in his possession for proper documentation.
With his installation, High Chief Gbenga Henry Adeyeye is now fully entitled to wear the paraphernalia of office associated with the Iralepo stool. The Deji also warned Mr. Gbenga Ojo against parading himself as Iralepo, emphasizing that any violation of the directive would attract stiff penalties, including committal proceedings.
The presentation of the certificate to the new Iralepo was witnessed by the Omowa of Isikan and other dignitaries at the Deji’s palace. The Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Adeyeye Michael, described the occasion as a significant step towards maintaining traditional order and ensuring the progress of Isikan.
The palace congratulated High Chief Gbenga Henry Adeyeye and urged him to work towards the development and prosperity of the Isikan community.
