Elizade University has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Tosan Erhabor, the distinguished Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
In a statement released by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, Professor Erhabor was described as a towering figure in the field of Medical Laboratory Science and a valued ally of Elizade University. His visit to the institution in February 2025 to induct the pioneer set of Medical Laboratory Science graduates remains a landmark event in the university’s history.
Adegbenro highlighted Professor Erhabor’s exceptional commitment to excellence and professionalism, noting that his contributions to the growth of Medical Laboratory Science in Nigeria and beyond were profound and enduring. “The news of his passing is a colossal loss to the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, the profession at large, and the entire healthcare sector,” he said. “We have lost a mentor, a visionary, and a dependable partner in our pursuit of quality healthcare education.”
According to Williams Olufunmi, Head of Public Relations at Elizade University, the late Professor Erhabor left an indelible mark not only on the university community but also on the entire medical and academic landscape. “He was a man of great integrity and commitment whose impact will continue to be felt for years to come,” Olufunmi stated.
On behalf of the Founder, Governing Council, Management, staff, and students of Elizade University, the institution extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, and the entire Medical Laboratory Science community, while praying for the peaceful repose of Professor Erhabor’s soul.
