In a bold move to foster youth empowerment and skill development, Mrs. Abimbola Abiodun Ogunlusi, Founder and CEO of the QMDCI Hospitality and Culinary Institute, has launched a free training program aimed at transforming the futures of 100 unemployed youths in Nigeria.
At the official opening ceremony, Mrs. Ogunlusi described the program as a “transformative initiative” aligned with QMDCI’s mission to provide practical, industry-relevant education.
“This is a significant milestone in our commitment to empower young individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to build rewarding careers in the vibrant hospitality industry,” she stated.
The three-month intensive training, which leads to the award of an NSQ Certification, will be followed by a three-month internship placement. Participants will benefit from both classroom instruction and real-world industry experience, ensuring they are well-prepared to enter the workforce or start their own businesses.
Mrs. Ogunlusi emphasized that the hospitality sector remains a dynamic and fast-growing part of the global economy, offering endless opportunities for those equipped with the right skills. She assured participants that QMDCI’s support would extend beyond the training, helping them transition successfully into the industry.
She also expressed sincere gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education, whose sponsorship under the FME-IDEAS initiative made the program possible. She praised the Ministry’s continued dedication to youth development and national growth.
Addressing the trainees, Mrs. Ogunlusi urged them to embrace the journey ahead with enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones.
“The foundation you are building today will open doors to a lifetime of opportunities,” she encouraged.
The launch of the QMDCI Hospitality and Culinary Training Program highlights the impact of strong public-private partnerships in tackling youth unemployment, promoting entrepreneurship, and driving sustainable economic growth. With initiatives like this, QMDCI continues to serve as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change in Nigeria’s hospitality sector.
