The management of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) says it has begun the re-grassing of its pitch and construction of its hostel for players ahead of the Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The pitch and hostels are located at Oda Games Village, Akure in Ondo State.
Sunshine Stars Football Club will compete in the NNL following the team’s relegation at the end of the premier league season.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Akure by the agency’s Media Manager, Mr Michael Akintunde.
The statement noted that the grassing of the pitch became necessary following its bad state, which was not good for professional players.
According to the statement, the process is also important to reduce pressure on the pitch of the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure
“When completed, the pitch will offer a more sustainable choice, and support cooler playing temperatures, especially ahead of the 2025/2026 football league season.
“Players will experience improved ball control, aided by the touch of the pitch with a softer surface that absorbs shock.
“It will also provide a better grip, which helps lower the risk of serious injuries compared to harder surfaces.
“The hotel reconstruction is aimed at improving the living conditions of players, better nutrition and recovery with increased team bonding and focus.
The statement noted that the move was in line with Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s reshaping strategy, aimed at enhancing the state football teams.
